Window installation and alignment

Critical item

Per ASTM E2112, windows must be installed plumb, level, and square. Maximum deviation is 1/8" from plumb or level across the window dimension. Shims must be placed at all fastening points per manufacturer instructions.

Weatherproofing and flashing

Critical item

Per ASTM E2112, windows must have proper flashing with head flashing, jamb flashing, and sill pan. Weather-resistant barrier (WRB) must be integrated with window flashing in a shingle-lap pattern. Sealant per manufacturer specifications.

Energy performance

Per IECC, windows must meet U-factor and SHGC requirements for the climate zone. Low-fill foam or backer rod and sealant required between window frame and rough opening per IECC C402.4.1. No visible daylight around window perimeter.
